This week is Māori Language week! We are looking forward to our school wide celebrations tomorrow!

This week New Zealand has celebrated our annual Māori Language Week (Te wiki o te reo Māori). The theme for this week has been "Kia kaha te reo Māori" in other words - our language is a treasure and we must do all we can to preserve it. 

We have learnt lots of new phrases, "Hika ma!" (Oh my goodness!) Tomorrow we will be having a school wide celebration of te wiki in the gym at 9.05.

We will be hearing mihi and singing waiata. Please feel free to join as whānau - we would love to celebrate with you! 

"Kaua he whakamā ki te korerō Māori. Ahakoa he iti, he toanga."

Don't be shy to speak Māori. No matter how little, treasure it!
