GROW AGM - April 1st
Please come along to the GROW West Rolleston Primary School AGM being held in the school staffroom at 7pm on Monday 1st April.
We need to elect a new Chairperson and Secretary so if you would like to be considered can you please take a nomination form and add to the box at the office. We would love to see lots of new faces to help organise events to raise money for our school. Everyone is welcome.
WHO WE ARE:
We’re a friendly, engaged group of parents and staff who plan and run events and fundraisers to support our school. Our name reflects our values and the purpose of our group. We don’t have a formal, named committee. Every parent or caregiver of an enrolled child is automatically a member of GROW and invited to be part of everything we do.
WHAT WE DO:
1) Build a strong and connected school community – social events like our welcome to school picnic, Men’s and Ladies nights, hot chocolate, ice blocks and sausage sizzles, care packages and the GROW facebook page.
2) Provide resources and equipment to school to help them better support our tamariki – GROW has purchased sports and kapa haka uniforms, classroom furniture and resources, trees for the orchard and playground equipment. We subsidise senior camp and are currently fundraising for a cricket pitch and a pump track.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Join the GROW facebook page – search GROW West Rolleston Primary School - and keep up with what we’re doing, and what’s coming up.
Attend a meeting. We meet roughly once a month, usually on the first Tuesday. Look out for notifications on the facebook page. The meetings are open to everyone. They’re a chance to be involved in the planning and share your ideas.
Get involved! We always need helpers for specific events. This might mean a couple of hours packing goody bags for discoes, manning a bbq for a sausage sizzle or helping at a community event.
Donate. Not everyone has time to give. We often run bake sales in conjunction with our discoes or ask for prizes for raffles. Sometimes we might ask for donations or sponsorship for specific projects, and we run all sorts of fundraisers throughout the year. There is NEVER an obligation, but it’s another way you can support us.
Share your skills and contacts. There are always projects on the go. If you have skills to offer, own a business that can help or know people who do we will always welcome your input. Where possible, we like to support members of our extended school whanau and local community, and contributions will always be acknowledged.
