Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

It was perfect weather for the start of GROW's hot chocolate this week with the temperature dipping dramatically. Many thanks to Jo Burnett, Carmen Walcott-Wood and the big group of Mums who helped make and serve yesterday.

Teachers have all been busy completing assessments and making professional judgements on their learners' progress and achievement in reading, writing and maths. As already discussed all of this information is now reported to you digitally through linc ed and this will all be completed by the last day of this term. We are going to run a short information session on using linc ed this Tuesday night from 6.00pm - 7.00pm for anyone who would like support using this system. It will be in the staff-lounge.

Early next term you will then have the opportunity to meet with your child and their teacher to discuss their personal goals, progress and achievement. Each child will talk about a specific goal they set earlier in the year and whether they have achieved it or are still in the process of achieving it. These are not the only goals the children work towards, they have also been setting and achieving lots of short and longer term goals throughout the year. Some of these are available for you to see in linc ed. We are trying to support our learners with the process of goal setting so they can do this independently as self managing learners.

Next week we will also be inducting our new office administrator, Paula Pearson, who will be working alongside Trish and Mary in the office. There are a lot of faces and names to begin to remember in terms of learners [548], staff [45] and parents and whānau. Thanks for your patience and support.

Finally thanks and good luck to our exiting student teachers who have made a positive difference on our staff this term - Emma Collins, Kate Marston and Hamish Smith.

Ngā mihi nui

Sylvia
