Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

Thank you to all of the amazing learners, staff and parent/whānau community who have made this year a success. Our vision and new values this year were launched successfully and our children can use the language of the vision and values and 'live' them with their actions.

It was great to welcome our parents and whānau back for our final assemblies and prize-givings yesterday. Congratulations and good luck to our 57 Y8 leavers.

My final highlight as the year ends:

Ako

When our school-wide achievement data was analysed by Ben Galletly and Amanda Clarkson it was confirmed that many of our children have made progress and accelerated progress with their learning in reading, writing and maths this year.

Manaakitanga

I am super happy that amazing people in our BoT and GROW have launched the Manaaki Fund. This has been established as a way to provide support where, for financial or other reasons, our learners aren’t able to fully engage at school. We want all learners to be fed, warm and able to participate, and to know that they’re part of a community that values them.

Tiakitanga

Plans are underway over the holidays to continue to improve the landscape for our learners so they have access to the best resources:

*steps leading from the deck of the Te Ara Tupu studios to provide seating and access to and from the field

*an artificial grass area outside the new deck by Te Kete Kākano for more indoor/outdoor learning and play options

*an additional PE container to house our increasing PE equipment

Have a safe and happy Christmas period and we look forward to seeing everyone back in the new year.

Ngā mihi

Sylvia
