Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

Thank you to all of the parents who attended the learning conferences for all Year 4-8 children and any children who were due a conference in Years 1-3.

I have had really positive feedback from parents about the effort our teachers make with communicating with whānau and how proud they were of their own child's ability to talk about their learning.

On Tuesday I supported the senior footballers at the local zone competition at Clearview Primary. I was impressed with the efforts shown by our children and the sportsmanship. It was also an opportunity to see our children mixing really positively with children from the other local schools who they meet each week at Winter Sport. Well done to the Year 7/8 team who came fourth, and the Year 5/6 team who came fifth.

This week the Year 7/8 learners have also enjoyed a fabulous leadership week. Thank you to members of our BoT who came along and shared some of their leadership experiences with them, Simon McDermott and Rob Hunt. Tomorrow each child has invited a significant person along to share a special breakfast in Te Ara Maia that the children have designed and made. Special thanks to Mrs Megan Murray and Miss Hollie Stone for their efforts with organising leadership week.

Well I don't know about your children but generally lots of them are feeling tired so we are all looking forward to the break. I am going to enjoy not having to rush to work during world cup football, spending some lovely time with my own family and watching my daughter in a couple of shows. If you are looking for a good kidsfest show to attend I would recommend going to Impact's version of Madagascar, my daughter is the hippo, and it should be entertaining!

Have a great holiday and see you all back on the 23 July - there will be a mihi whakatau to welcome all new learners and whānau at 9.30am - all welcome.

Sylvia
