Dances For School Term 4

All students - Important information regarding our Dance programme

During Term 4, we are lucky to have trained dance teachers from ‘Dances For Schools’ come in to teach an exciting dance programme to our learners. This supports our curriculum and offers the opportunity for our learners and teachers to take part and learn from an inclusive and recognised dance company. We had a trial with them during term 1 and the learners loved it and showed great enthusiasm.

The programme offers an exposure to a range of dance such as hip hop and partner dance. These build on social and interpersonal skills as well are presentation skills. It is a fantastic opportunity for us to get all our learners involved in dance, run by trained teachers on site. More information can be found on their website http://www.dancesforschool.com/. The programme builds up to a performance on a Friday afternoon where parents are invited to come along and watch the learners showcase the skills they have learnt and practiced. There is also the opportunity for the year 7 & 8s to perform in an evening performance with other year 7 & 8 learners from around the area (more information to come on this).

All students will be attending the sessions and this will run for 10 days over a 2 week block as it is more beneficial and allows learners to engage more in the programme as they have better memory retention over this time. We have not set dates for this yet but will work around swimming (Term 4: juniors weeks 5 & 6, seniors weeks 7 & 8).

For us to provide this opportunity to our learners, there is a cost associated with this. The cost is $30.50 per learner after it has been subsidised from our arts budget. This can be paid in full to the school account (12-3153-0021818-00) with your child’s name and dance as reference OR it can be paid in installments, please speak to Trish or Amy in the office if you would like to do this.

We thank you for your on-going support in allowing us to offer these opportunities to our learners.
