Message From the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

Thanks to the parents in Years 1-3 who were scheduled to attend learning conferences with teachers this week. These will be held in Week 10 for all Year 4-8 learners so please look out for a booking email.

These meetings are a valuable time for your child to show you their learning around the studio; and you have time to discuss progress and achievement with the teacher. Research shows that children make greater gains and have more success at school when families and school staff work together.

This week we have numerous children representing our school in different ways. Well done to all of the children who represent the school in a local basketball competition (the picture shows Mr Fraser Malins congratulating our Year 7/8  team on a great display of sportsmanship in their win against Ladbrooks on Monday evening). Well done to Heath Burton and Aimee Price who gave up their Tuesday evening to represent the school in a local general knowledge quiz. Well done to  fourteen Year 7/8 children who were selected to attend a National Young Leader's Day at Horncastle Arena yesterday with Mrs Megan Murray and finally well done to the twenty-one runners representing our school at the Cross country Champs today. There are lots of amazing opportunities that our staff provide for our learners. As always children must demonstrate our Kowhai rules consistently in the learning studios and playground to be included in these opportunities.

This week we have been challenged by a number of unwell staff so there has been an influx of relievers in the school. Thank you for helping to make them feel welcome in the mornings.

Finally, the children have been enjoying some Samoan Language activities this week. Look out for a sneak preview performance of some of our Pasifika group at tomorrow's assembly.

Ia manuia le aso (have a nice day)

Sylvia
