Pottery at School

Katie Talbot —

Today we had our first of two pottery workshops which was optional for years 5-8

Our senior learners took part in a workshop, delivered by Cecilia from Creative Clay Studio.

Earlier in the year some of our teachers enjoyed a relaxing evening of creating ceramics and we found it so beneficial for our wellbeing, so we were thrilled to be able to offer this for our learners too!

Learners from Te Ara Whanui and Te Ara Maia took part in this workshop and created their own ceramic "kete".

Some positive comments from our learners included:

"I think I enjoy designing the patterns to go on my kete" - Ruby Hautler

"I enjoy working my piece of clay into a piece of art" - Mase Harrison

"The clay is squishy and you can make it into anything and draw onto it to make it unique" - Jamal Gerken

We will have another session on the 19th September to further our developing skills.
