Hanmer Springs 2018 Year 7/8 Camp

West Rolleston —

What a great time our Y7/8 learners had in Hanmer Springs at the end of last term.

On Wednesday the 4th of April, the year 7-8 ‘s from Te Ara Maia went on school camp to Hanmer Springs. When we arrived the bus dropped us off in town and we walked up Conical hill and through the forest to camp. Everyone was so tired after that long tramp. We stayed at Hanmer Springs Forest Camp for three days and two nights. We had lots of fun and got to know each other better. Some of the activities the Te Ara Maia learners had the opportunity to do were:

  • Tree climbing

  • Mountain Biking

  • Tramping

  • Survival challenge

  • Movie night

  • Quiz night

...as well as a relaxing afternoon at the thermal pools. We were ever so lucky because we also got to go on the Hydro slides and Super bowl, All the learners had so much fun. On Friday we played dinosaur tag. It was very funny and everyone really enjoyed it, especially when Zavier dressed up in a blow up dinosaur costume. Unfortunately that was the day we had to leave and go back to school. Everyone, even the teachers and Parents, had a great time and we would definitely do it all over again.

Thank you to all the parents who came on camp. We couldn’t have done it without Helena, Dan, Colin, Phil and Dena. We really appreciate you giving up your time to come and make our camp so much fun. A huge thank you once again.
