Dog Safety at School

Katie Talbot —

Thanks Muddi for coming to our school to teach us about dog safety in the mountains.

On Monday afternoon we had a visit from local vet Catherine and her dog Muddi. Muddi is trained to rescue people who get trapped under the snow in the mountains.

Miss Woods dressed up as a skier and hid under a mountain of "snow" and we saw how Muddi used his nose to track her down.

We also learnt lots of rules to keep ourselves safe around dogs such as: "Check its sweet before you meet" and "It's not a toy so don't annoy". We also learnt that if you do feel afraid of a dog its best to plant your feet like a tree and stand strong looking at the sky, you can then back away very slowly.

Thank you so much to Catherine for coming to our school to share your knowledge with us.
