Message from the Principal

Sylvia Fidow —

The children are really enjoying our play-spaces outside. The photo taken above was just last week when the weather was much warmer. Obviously the temperature has decreased dramatically since then.

Your child is welcome to wear a scarf, beanie and gloves to school but we would appreciate it if you follow our 'black' uniform policy so that all other uniform items are black including shoes and socks. Thank you for respecting this.

This term teachers have been busy completing assessments on all learners. Over the next four weeks the progress, achievement and effort records for each child in reading, writing and maths will be updated in linc ed and reported to you digitally.

There will also be a written comment under the vision and values section, as parent feedback informed us that parents are very interested in learning about how well their child relates to others and participates in the learning programme.

Parent comments from 2018 Annual Reporting to Parents - progress and achievement:

  • Interested to hear more about how our kids are with regards to being happy at school, joining in and being part of things. Thank you :)
  • Child’s progress in English and Maths plus social skills. Also what can we do as parents to help child
  • Reporting on behaviour and life skills such as cooperation with teachers and peers, diligence, taking care of themselves and their belongings, taking pride in their work, communication, participation, ability to complete work independently and so on.

You can expect to see all of this information by the end of term along with some rich learning samples in Maths and Health.

We are offering some information sessions on using linc ed for parents and whānau who would like additional support or to understand how the achievement and progress is reported. These are scheduled for Tuesday 25 June from 6.00-7.00pm and Friday 28 June from 9.45am-10.45am following assembly. These will be in the staff-lounge.

Finally, well done to GROW and all of our parent/whanau community for winning the Beams and Bars prize package for our school. The gym gear is worth $4000.

Ngā mihi nui

Sylvia
