Welcome back to Term 2!

Amanda Clarkson —

It's wonderful to reconnect and I hope you managed to get a bit of a break during the recent school holiday period. Personally, I had a fantastic family trip to Nelson, and it was so lovely to soak up the sun and spend quality time with my family.

I'm thrilled to extend a warm welcome to our 17 new students who have joined our school community. Your presence enriches our environment, and we look forward to supporting you in your educational journey here at West Rolleston Primary.

Additionally, I'm excited to announce the return of Miss Leigh Thrupp from maternity leave. She has opened the new whanau group in Te Kete Kakano. We also have Mr George Lecciones and Mr Asher Fitzpatrick who are joining our senior school, as release teachers. I am sure everyone will make them feel welcome in our kura.

We wish Ms Fidow all the best with her sabbatical this term and look forward to her returning in Term 3, and hearing all about her adventures along with the study she is completing.

Thank you to the BOT for funding for the trees that have been planted on the field and in Te Ara Eke Panuku along with a hedge. These will grow and offer more shade and shelter for everyone. Also, a big thank you to James from K and A Landscapes for relocating our planter boxes over the holidays.

All the teachers have been busy over the holiday break planning exciting events and activities for this term. We kick things off with swimming sessions for our Year 1 and 2 students, ensuring they develop essential water safety skills. Meanwhile, our Year 7 and 8 students will immerse themselves in Water Week, which includes activities such as boat safety, snorkelling, and the inflatable manu platform.

We are holding two information afternoons/evenings this term. One is being run by Mana Ake and focuses on emotional regulation, and the other one is about our student management system HERO. There will be more information coming about those sessions soon.

As always, we remain dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching learning environment for all our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Here's to a successful and fulfilling Term 2 ahead!

Warm regards,

Amanda Clarkson
