Message from the Acting Principal

Amanda Clarkson —

As we embark on the end of the third week of the term, I'm delighted to share that our children have seamlessly settled back into the rhythm of school life.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our Hui a Whānau night, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Miss Dench and Miss Lambert for orchestrating such a wonderful event. It was heartening to witness the vibrant turnout of families coming together, fostering our strong sense of whanaungatanga.

On Monday evening it was the GROW/PTA AGM. On behalf of everyone at our school, I'd like to thank our incredible GROW team for their unwavering dedication and hard work over the past year. Your mahi (work) has truly made a difference in enriching our school community and supporting our students and staff. A special shoutout goes to Sara Mitchell and Kate Bowman for their outstanding leadership and commitment to guiding the team. As we bid farewell to Kate, and I am also stepping down from the treasurer role, we warmly welcome our new Secretary Paula Reay and Treasurer Simone McFarlane aboard. Thank you all for your tireless efforts and invaluable contributions.

A gentle reminder regarding school uniforms. Our uniform plays an integral role in fostering a sense of belonging and pride in our school identity. Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed in the correct uniform, which includes plain black shoes and socks. During the colder months, your child may wear a black thermal underneath the school polo shirt, a black jacket and hat are permitted for outdoor wear.

This year we have managed to secure funding from the Ministry of Education for maths professional development. Over the last two Tuesdays after school, teachers have been working with Carol Butel from Learning Solutions to enhance their maths programmes. Next week Carol is coming to work alongside teachers in their studios.

This term teachers will be diligently working on written school reports, with distribution expected at the term's end and again in Term 4. These reports serve as an invaluable insight into your child's progress and achievements, reflecting our commitment to their holistic development.

A reminder that tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day. Your child may come to school wearing pink or casual mufti. Our whare leaders will be there collecting the gold coin donations.

We also have a teachers-only day on the 31st of May. The school will be closed for the day.

Lastly, I want to wish our Year 5/6 and 7/8 girls and boys basketball teams all the best for the up-and-coming zones competition on Monday next week. Thank you to the teachers and parents involved for giving up their time to coach them.

I appreciate your continued support and partnership in nurturing our students' growth and success.

Nga mihi nui
