I was very proud to take the ambassadors to Ronald McDonald house this morning to gift our mufti day donation money. As you can see Heath even took a pile of home baking to share with the families as well.

Zone Cross Country

This year the University of Canterbury is delighted to launch the great Kiwi Spelling Bee competition for primary and intermediate schools Y5-8. The Kiwi Spelling Bee competition is written by New Zealand teachers for New Zealand students and is based on the New Zealand curriculum. The online competitions will be run in Term 3, from 30th July to 17th August 2018 at a time suitable to the school. All participating students will be awarded a certificate and prizes will be awarded to top students in each year group. The cost for a student to participate is $8.50. West Rolleston will be hosting a celebration of Matariki on the evening of Wednesday 20th June from 4.30pm for shared kai and a performance from our Kapa Haka group.

Following on from the recent offer from the government, teachers are now attending these meetings to vote whether we accept this offer or decline it and look at taking further action.

Over the next few weeks we will be teaching the personal safety programme Keeping Ourselves Safe.

We are very excited to have our new learners start at West Rolleston Primary School.

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this terms school disco that was meant to be on the Friday 17th August. Look out for one in term 4 instead.

We are excited to offer a Workshop for parents called “About Anxiety in Children” which covers how anxiety works, what it looks like in children and tips to manage anxiety. It will be discussion based, and there will be an opportunity for parents to ask questions and talk about strategies. It will be run by Ursula McCulloch, a clinical psychologist with years of experience in working with children, now based at the School Based Mental Health Team.
