West Rolleston Primary School Information

Welcome to the West Rolleston Primary School Te Kura o Te Uru Kōwhai learning community. It is my pleasure to welcome your child and your family to our foundation school built on a greenfields site, and formally opened on the 1st February 2016 to Y1-4 learners. In 2017 we welcomed our Y5-8 learners, making us a full primary school.

Our vision is to GROW our learners

Our Vision

I have worked alongside an establishment board of trustees to ensure the best opportunities and facilities are available to our learners; focusing on our emerging values of learning, sustainable environments, respect and care, inclusion, culture, diversity and whānau/community.

We have developed a pathway/te ara of learning throughout the time our learners will attend our school. Following consultation our establishment board confirmed our school name as West Rolleston Primary School so that we were easily identifiable by place. Our local Marae, Te Taumutu Runanga, gifted us the Māori name of Te Kura o Te Uru Kōwhai to signify the kōwhai tree which has grown in abundance in the area of Selwyn.

We really hope you enjoy all of the experiences offered at West Rolleston Primary School, Te Kura o Te Uru Kōwhai and I look forward to getting to know your child and your family. We value whānau/family support and welcome parent and grandparent help in our learning community.
