'All Jokes Aside'

Lisa McWilliam —

Caleb Wright, Year 8 here at Westburn School, has embarked on an adventure alongside the Child Cancer Foundation to bring joy and laughter to the lives of children who are experiencing health challenges and are in need of cheering up.

Caleb has had a Cancer journey of his own battling a Brain Tumor in 2016 and in late 2018 was diagnosed with two more tumors in his brain. Throughout his journey humor has played a huge part in getting through the challenges he faced and will continue to do so in the future.

The Child Cancer Foundation has launched a project, with Caleb, called Caleb's Joke Challenge. Together they are searching for NZ's best (or worst) jokes to create a joke book to be published and distributed to Hospitals and Child Cancer Family Places throughout NZ. Caleb has a great portfolio of jokes but not enough to fill a whole book so he's asking for your help. Jokes can be submitted through his website, www.calebsjokechallenge.co.nz, posted on social media using the hashtags #calebsjokechallenge #alljokesaside #childcancer or there will be the option to submit your joke in writing at the school office.

Cards will be available and can be put in the box provided by the office - anyone of any age is welcome to submit their joke. Children are asked to write their name and classroom on the back so they can be celebrated if their joke makes the book. Caleb would like to thank you in advance for your contribution to his project and can't wait to share the finished product with his Westburn School family.
