Mobile Phones and Smart Watches at School

Susan Jennison —

A reminder about students bringing devices to school.

The Personal Digital Devices policy is available to view on our SchoolDocs website. Instructions for logging in to Westburn's SchoolDocs site can be found on our school website here.

Student safety is at the heart of this policy which has been updated to reflect the increased number and type of devices being brought to school each day.

This policy applies to all personal digital devices except Years 5-8 BYOD devices which are stored in the classroom.

If you wish your child to bring a mobile phone, Smart Watch or similar personal digital device to school, it must be handed in at the school office each morning where it will be securely stored throughout the day. It can be collected from the school office at the end of the day.

Please note that this policy operates regardless of whether the device has been silenced or set to School Mode.

At 9 am each day, students place their devices in their classroom's device container which is then taken to the office for storage. The container is collected at the end of the day and the devices are distributed in class.

As fewer junior students bring these devices to school, they generally hand them in individually at the office as they arrive at school.

We appreciate your support in ensuring your child adheres to this policy.
