Refurbishment update - Week 4
There have been a few messages sent home this week and I know some parents are concerned about the volume of mail in their inboxes, so this one will be brief!
Music Suite
H3 Builders are making terrific progress with the refurbishment of this area. As you can see in the photos, all of the walls are lined and the acoustic wall coverings are ready to be installed. You can't see the amazingly heavy acoustic doors that have been installed, but take it from me, their effectiveness was worth the cost!
Enabling works
These are up to date. It might look as though some areas are still 'under construction' but they're complete and waiting to connect to the next stage. While it might not look terribly tidy, it's a necessary evil and doesn't impact too much on the life of the school.
Construction begins!
As Richard Smith noted in the board newsletter this week, Hann Construction will undertake the refurbishing and construction works at Westburn School. The Hann team will begin work next Monday 17 August, completing the site fencing after school.
Access to the school site
We want this refurbishment to run as smoothly and swiftly as possible for Hann Construction so that it is complete on time for our community to enjoy. As you will appreciate, Hann Construction and their subcontractors will need to access the site throughout the day.
As we only have one access point (the main driveway) we're asking for your help in two key areas.
- Please don't drive up our driveway at all, regardless of music lessons, after school care, or running late. Many staff will be parking offsite for the next 12 months also, and this is just one of the concessions we need to make to keep construction on track.
- Please don't walk up the driveway as this is a Health & Safety issue. The only people on the driveway at all should be staff accessing their cars and limited numbers of students accessing their bikes & scooters. Both of these will only happen at the start and end of the day.
We're aware that this is an inconvenience and we're grateful for your continued support.
It's exciting to see construction finally begin after eight long years of negotiating and planning. We can't wait to see what the next year brings!
