Westburn Year 8 basketball team made their way to Pioneer stadium for the Canterbury primary sports basketball tournament. They went on to compete in their pool which consisted of Hillview, STAC and Ashgrove. Their first game was STAC  which was a big challenge for the players in green and blue as they could not beat St Andrews College and lost 18-13. They had a 24 minute break and got right back in the competition as they went ahead to play Hillview. They expected to bounce back from the tough loss. Westburn took an early lead but that quickly got taken away from them as Hillview got some of their own quick buckets.

Westburn continued to play through this, but it was not enough, as the final score showed 18-12. Westburn were eager for their next game to redeem themselves. Ashgrove was the next challenge Westburn were on to it as they took the win. 30-12. They finished third in the pool. Westburn quickly moved on to St Joseph westburn with the momentum of their last game they cleaned up St Joseph’s. It seemed no team could stop them as it ended out being 22-11.
