Celebrating culture at Westburn Te Kura O Hereora

Mary McCance —

Did you know that our community is incredibly diverse and represents more than 45 countries from around the world?

On the 19th of October, the children were invited to the hall to participate in a range of activities which introduced them to some of our cultures.   There were music performances, arts and crafts, Arabic writing activities, Bollywood dancing and chopstick races.   The children were also encouraged to dress up in their national costumes.

A huge thank you must go to the Year 7 and 8 cultural ambassadors, Anahita, Ella, Jan, Jason, Mahe, Manon, Rodayna, Sylvia and Ria for planning this event.  I also want thank Mai, Aki, Teresa, and Yuko for supporting our event, coordinating activities and for their wonderful performances.  We also must thank our wonderful ESOL teacher aides, Michelle, Tina and Roska for helping to facilitate this event.
