Thank you to the Christchurch City Council

Susan Jennison —

There are many groups within our local community that support our school - parents, WSCA, local businesses and agencies - and the CCC.

Over the last five years the Council has partnered with us particularly in the area of student road safety. CCC staff have worked with us to create a School Transport Plan, they've provided programmes like Cycle Safe and Safe Scootering - and they've helped with practical issues.,

One of the major issues has been the safety of our students at the Grahams Rd/Waimairi Rd roundabout. Council staff supported our application for improvements at the roundabout, which resulted in permanent speed cushions and pedestrian safety rails being installed last year.

Each year we ask the Council to cut back the agapanthus on the southeast corner of the intersection, as the height of the plants when they're flowering blocks drivers' view of our smallest students. The Council has always been accommodating about this and this year they've actually removed the plants completely.

We're grateful to work with such a responsive and community-focused team within the Council and thank them for helping to keep Westburn students safe.
