This week we looked at rhyming poetry and took our inspiration from Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham book. The children wrote poems about either going to or not going to the A and P Show. We hope you enjoy these three poems.

                                                   The Show by Yana

I did not go to the show and did not buy giant bows,

but I have been to shows before and I have seen giant rows.

I know what shows are like but not this A and P show,

I did not go to the show, oh no, no, no!

I saw nobody there because I didn’t go,

I went to some other place, so I didn’t stay at home.

We did not stay the whole day,

and did not go to a bay,

in the water, we did not play.

I didn’t want to be lazy and I didn’t want to go crazy,

so I went somewhere else you know

I did not go to the show!

Oh, to the A and P Show I did not go,

I went with no one, no, no, no!

I heard that there were lots of rides,

but I don’t know, no, no, no!

I never went to the A and P Show,

but I heard there were horses so,

Why oh why did I not go to the country show?

I heard it was a fun show,

oh why, oh why did I not go?

I want to go no matter what,

I’ll wait five seasons on the spot!

Oh the country show, I feel so low

because I did not go.

So I will go in two years’ time

or pay a hundred golden limes!

I am Isla, I went to the show, to the show I went.

What time I went, I do not know!

I saw Nia and Oscar who has crazy hair,

It was going up and down the day we went to the fair.

There were a hundred smells, some good, some bad.

Who pointed that out? My best friend’s dad!

The ride I went on was The Hurricane,

It went up and around and then down she came!

There was everything and more,

but a lot of them were food stores.

Luckily no one was wearing heels, up on the Ferris wheel

for they could slip and that would take some time to heal.

While we were on the roller coaster,

my mum was probably popping the toaster!

After eating too many chips, that was the end of our fabulous trip!
