The Westburn Warriors is a team of year 7/8 boys who competed in the YMCA Winter Basketball competition at Bishopdale.

In its inaugural year,  the team finished in an amazing 3rd Place in the their division.

Every Friday night the boys and their biggest supporters came to the court to witness the emergence of some brilliant ball skills and outstanding team work. The majority of the team were relatively new to basketball and each week they committed themselves to learning more at training and then implementing those skills on the court, striving for that elusive basket or building the most effective defence. Needless to say, awarding 'Player of the Day' become an increasingly hard challenge !

A massive thanks to all the parents and basketball fans who came to cheer and support the boys.

To the boys: " An incredible pat on the back for your globe-trotting efforts!"

To our 5 Year 8 boys who leave the Primary School competition now as Bronze Medalists: Best of luck in your high school years. Remember that 'the backboard is your friend and if you can reach the ball in my hand, you can reach for everything!"

Basketball at Westburn in 2018 is looking very exciting indeed.
