Ensuring BYOD Devices are ‘Learning Ready’ for 2024
From January 2024, Westburn will be using Linewize’s Connect software to ensure BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) devices are used effectively while at school to support students’ academic success.
Linewize Connect ensures:
Teachers are able to guide students more effectively during lessons, including managing access to the internet and/or device applications and focusing students to specific internet resources in alignment with lesson objectives.
Consistent visibility of students’ screens during lessons across the entire desktop, including all applications and browsers used.
Deeper visibility of student behaviours on BYOD devices while on the school network.
The school will not be monitoring or filtering BYOD devices outside of school hours - or off the school network at any time.
Linewize Connect Software Required:
To achieve the above, every BYOD device will be required to have Linewize’s Connect software running while on the school network. This software is available to download and install from www.linewize.io/anz/laptops.
Chromebook users do not need to install any software as it will automatically install it via our Google system. This will happen during the first week of school next year and will activate when users sign in with their school account.
If your child’s device is not a Chromebook and you are unsure of how to install the software, we are offering families the option of dropping their device into the school office on Wednesday 31st January 2024 for our technician Rodney to install the software for you. Devices will be kept in a secure place overnight and you will be contacted on Thursday 1st February once the device is ready for collection from the school office.
If Linewize Connect is not running on a BYOD device, students will be unable to access the internet except to download and install Connect. Once Connect is running on the device, it will be able to access the school's internet.
