WASP applications are now open for 2025

Christina Arapai —

Applications for the Westburn Advanced Sports Programme (WASP) for 2025 are now open and will close on 28 November 2024

The aim of the Westburn Advanced Sports Programme (WASP) is to promote excellence in physical education, to encourage and to spread good practice within sport. If your child will be in Years 6-8 in 2025 and has demonstrated (or has been identified as having) a high level of skill in their chosen sport, encourage them to apply for a position in this programme. Your child must be able to commit to a one hour session before school once a week. (This has traditionally been a Friday morning).

The tutors will cover both practical and theory-based learning around physical fitness and skill acquisition. The programme also includes theory-based sessions that focus on nutrition, physiology and designing fitness programmes.

If your child would like to apply for WASP they must submit their interest via a written application. An application form is available below. Please be aware that this is an opt-in programme. The cost of running it is covered by a fee of $150.00 per child. This fee must be paid prior to beginning the course.

Please drop your applications into the office or email to jayne.newlands@westburn.school.nz by 28 November 2024.
