Avonhead Cemetery Earthquake Memorial

Our Senior Choir and Orchestra joined several local schools to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the February 22nd Earthquake at Avonhead Cemetery.
On Friday 21st February, the Westburn Senior Choir and Orchestra attended the 14th anniversary memorial event at Avonhead Cemetery. Our orchestra began the event as they accompanied the National Anthem. Our choir then joined several local primary and secondary schools as each group performed a selection of reflective songs.
Due to this event falling so early in Term 1, the children were only able to attend one orchestra rehearsal and two choir rehearsals. I am very appreciative of the additional support that our musicians received from whānau at home in order to prepare for this event.
It was an honour to be part of this special event, and we thank the Friends Of Avonhead Cemetery for their organisation.
