Senior student update

Ms Sarah Bateup - Acting Assistant Principal / Senior APL —

An update from the Acting Principal / Senior Academic and Pastoral Leader on Senior students.

Term 2 has been a busy term! Seniors are well into their courses and have begun academic conferencing with their Academic and Pastoral leader and their whanau teachers. This serves as a check in around academic goals and pathways throughout the year.

Many parents have had meetings with staff throughout the beginning of the year, which has served to strengthen the lines of communication between home and school. Whanau teachers remain the main contact for parents and whanau, and are very pleased to have contact with families on any matters that need to be discussed. At times, parents and whanau may prefer to make direct contact with a classroom teacher and this is welcomed.

Planning for the ball is well underway with the ball committee meeting weekly this term. The senior school ball is set for Friday 15th September, with that in mind one of the main criterias for seniors to attend is having an attendance of 95% or more, taking justified absences into account. Whanau teachers are doing a great job at following up with absences, please keep the information coming.
