Edogawa Programme

Jane Brownie —

We are very excited to be planning this year's visit from our friends in Edogawa City, Tokyo.

Westland High School has been hosting students from the Edogawa Youth Wing for 20 years now. Of course, we have had a 3 year break because of COVID but this has not dampened our spirits and our Short-stay Co-ordinator, Annemarie Greig has an action-packed programme lined up.

The students from Edogawa make an application to the city council to be part of this experience and only 20 applicants are successful so the students are very engaged and excited to be given the chance to visit the West Coast.

We always have students eager to be buddies and this is a great way for our students to practice manaakitanga and whanaungatanga. If your rangatahi show an interest in becoming a buddy please encourage them to do so. It is a very rewarding experience.

We are also looking for hosts to take care of these fabulous, young people for 7 nights in August. If you think you would like to take part in our programme in the role of a host family please contact either Annemarie Greig, annemariegreig@westlandhigh.school.nz or Jane Brownie, janebrownie@westlandhigh.school.nz
