FTR go cave rafting

Westland High School —

The whanau class FTR last week went to Westport to participate in a number of activities.

FTR had been fundraising and planning all year to go on a school trip that would enable them to experience a range of activities that they wouldn't necessarily get the chance to experience outside of school.

The students went to Charleston Underground Adventure tour where they boarded the Waitakere River Rainforest Train for a 20 minute journey into the forests of the Paparoa National Park. Then they took just a short walk to Te Ananui Cave, climbing high above the river to the cave entrance to begin their underground caving and tubing adventure.

From Charleston they traveled up to Kawatiri-Westport to Carters Beach where they stayed at Carters by the Sea, just minutes from the beach.
The following day students ventured to Tauranga Bay seal colony. With it's beautiful walk and spectacular ocean views, steeple rocks, and a large year-round fur seal colony.

Other activities they had planned were swimming, boogie boarding, surfing and more.

All students had a great time experiencing a wonderful trip with Whaea C and Mr Waller.
