Kai Whakapai will be closed for a few dates

Ms K. Fleming - Kai Whakapai —

An update from Kai Whakapai

At the school cafe Kai Whakapai, we are continuing with our mission to do what we can to look after our environment as well as making healthier food choices available for our students and staff.

A few good examples:

  • we still serve meals in bamboo boats with wooden cutlery
  • we haven't bought any rubbish bags for over 2 years (we use the big plastic bags our pizza bases come in)
  • drink cans go either to our Outdoor Education classes to make outdoor cookers or into the recycle bin
  • everything is made on site, less preservatives and packaging
  • we sell good basics like fruit, boiled free range eggs and carrots
  • we now only use free range eggs in our cooking

Online ordering is a great option as it ensures you/your student gets a meal, and saves having to scramble for money in the morning. You can register here for Ezlunch lunch orders which must be placed by 9am on the day (you can also order ahead)

Please note that the cafe is closed for usual business this Friday 6 August and next week 9-13 August. New World will be preparing morning tea and lunches, just order through Ezlunch as per normal and they will be delivered to the cafe where they will be handed out on these dates.
And finally, a huge thank you to you all for your continued support!
