Careers information enables students and whānau to be informed of training opportunities and possible career pathways:

Defence Forces:

  • The attached poster shares information about  an information evening  on 28 May in Greymouth for those interested in a career in the NZ Defence Forces

Aspiring  to be makeup artist?

  • Currently, a lot of students who begin their business start out at school and need help starting their business and getting customers. A website called mymua to helps everyone find makeup artists for events, balls, weddings etc.
  • Beginning makeup artists are able to add their services to mymua and display their services worldwide and take booking and payments through the site which makes starting a makeup business A LOT easier for students.

University of Otago:

  • The Liaison officer for Otago University, Iain McGilchrist , will be at school 2pm on 14 May to address students in Year 12 and 13 on courses available.

Coast Connect

  • connects job seekers with local jobs and training opportunities.  It is a web app launched byTai Poutini Polytechnic (TPP) 
  • Coast Connect works with everyone to create connections based on interest, values and experiences or suggest training opportunities that get people ready for work. West Coast community leaders are supporting Coast Connect and encouraging people to get involved.
  • Presentations on Coast Connect will be made to Westland High School staff on Tuesday 14 May and to senior students on Friday 24 May.

West Coast Pathways Expo

  • A  careers expo of training providers, and businesses will be held on 20 June at the Recreation Centre, Greymouth.  interested senior Westland High School students will have the opportunity to travel by bus ( provided free) to the event. Keep an eye out for the permission forms needed.
