Korfball success

Ms Bateup - PE/Health Head of Learning —

On Wednesday 7th September Westland High School hosted the second West Coast Secondary Schools Korfball Championships under our covered courts.

Our B team was full of korfball first timers where lots of learning and laughs were had. It was awesome to see our young ones challenge themselves and take on this fast paced mixed gender sport. WHS B came 3rd in the competition beating SWAS B in a closely fought match 8-6.

Our A team came away champions of the day with their undefeated innings, winning all games convincingly.

In preparation for South Island Secondary Schools Korfball Champs on the 17th and 18th of September, our past students with a passion for Korfball have made a competition to challenge our school team. Lauren Graham has organised a team from University of Canterbury to come play against a WHS all stars team (past students) and our WHS A team. So if you’re stuck for something to do on Sunday morning (11th September), come on down to the WHS gym to check out Korfball.
