Sam Hewitt competes at the NZ Junior Freeride competition and the Nationals.

Westland High School —

Sam Hewitt recently did exceptionally well at the National Junior Freeride competition.

The NZ Junior Freeride competitions were 3 events held in Queenstown, Canterbury and Turoa (in the North Island) this year. Sam placed 3rd in NZ in the 14 and under age group which qualified him to compete in the Nationals in Wanaka at Cardrona ski field over the Holidays.

At the Nationals Sam placed second in the U-14 Freeride male the winner was a Northern Hemisphere skier. This is an exceptional accomplishment especially given Sam suffered a broken femur last year.

Sam has shown such dedication to his sport and perseverance in overcoming his injury to get back into top form. We are very proud of of Sam and his significant national achievement.
