Red Cross First aid course

Westland High School —

The Gateway students recently participated in a First aid course, a vital component of work placements.

On Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th February, 19 Gateway students completed their Comprehensive First Aid Course with Heather Noble of the West Coast Red Cross. Students learned how to administer CPR, use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), how to prioritise the needs of patients depending on their injuries and how to keep themselves safe in situations where accidents have occurred. Students require this training before they are placed in a workplace environment.
