Our Japanese Students arrive 🇯🇵

Ms Brownie - International Director —

We welcome the students and their chaperones from Edogawa, Japan and sincerely hope they enjoy their time with us.

On 23rd July we welcomed 20 students and 2 leaders from Edogawa City Youth Wing in Japan to Westland High School. The visits to Westland High School from the Edogawa city students have been happening for more than 14 years. Students are chosen from schools all over Edogawa city to be part of the programme. The students are ably led by Ms Yuko Miyawaki and Mr Shintaro Kawahara. Each student is partnered with a Westland High School student or buddy who shows them around school and introduces them to kiwi culture. Our visitors are hosted by our wonderful home-stay families Ms Miyawaki and Mr Kawahara are being hosted by Ms Hulme and Mr Kelderman and Ms Hutt and Mr Straker.

The students were welcomed to Westland High School with a Powhiri on Wednesday morning.

During their stay our visitors have enjoyed a visit to Punakaiki, Franz Josef, a farm in the Kokatahi Valley and have had a visit to the Mayor’s office.
