Congratulations Sam Hewitt

Westland High School —

Sam Hewitt does it again at the Junior World Freeride tour in Queenstown.

Sam had a really successful competition at the NZ Junior World Freeride Tour recently. He competed in the Remarkables and placed second in the hotly contested Under 14 boys category. Sam has had a very successful competition ski history to date and we look forward to seeing more of what he achieves on the National competition stage. Well done Sam!

The Junior Freeride tour has been set up to provide junior and adult athletes with the opportunity to compete in professionally run freeride competitions. The focus is on fun, participation and safety along with promoting the incredible sport that is freeriding.

From the tour invitations are offered to selected riders to the World Championships. The selection is usually based off results and personal performace on the Tour. Past teams have performed exceptionally. In five years NZ has had 4 overall European champion titles claimed by kiwis.

  • Ski and snowboard
  • Male and female

Age Categories include:

  • 14 - 17 years

If you know of students (past or present) who are achieving great things, including civic minded community work, we'd love to hear about it. It's important to celebrate the achievements of our students and it's a great opportunity for other students to see what can be achieved if you set your mind to it.
