Farewell to Amelie 🇩🇪

J. Brownie - International Director —

Amelie Fleischmann our International student leaves us, we wish her safe travels and all the best.

It is with very mixed feelings that we prepare to farewell Amelie Fleischmann from Westland High School. Amelie returns to Germany at the end of this month. We will be sad to say goodbye but have such wonderful memories of her really unique NZ experience.

She is the first student to experience COVID-19 lockdown while away from her family and on the other side of the world! Amelie had the option to return home in March but chose to stay here in Hokitika and has reaped the benefits.

During her studies at WHS she has participated in our Outdoor Education programme, Showquest, Collegiate Hockey team, has had wonderful travels with her awesome host family, and has made some wonderful friends.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jasmine Barry who took on the responsibility of being an International Student buddy and as a result has made a good friend. Amelie's host family have been so kind and supportive and very generous. It is with these members of the community that our programme succeeds.

Amelie, we wish you well for your future and know that Hokitika will always be special to you.
