Mr Murray - Principal —

Nga mihi nui kia koutou katoa. Welcome back school for Term three.

Term three is now well underway, the students are engaged in their learning and enjoying their time at school. Our senior students now need to turn their undivided attention to NCEA as there are only about 11 school weeks before students take study leave, NCEA examinations commence on the 8th of November.

Black and White Day
Our very own Sarah Bateup head of Health and PE is currently in South Africa representing New Zealand in the World Korfball Championships. In support of the team Westland High School will be having a Black and White day today (Friday) where students and staff come to school dressed in B&W in support of the team and Miss Bateup….. GO New Zealand!

Property Update
The DWC Westland Sports hub is now seeing construction activities taking place. Evan Jones Construction the contractors are on site as preliminary works are underway. Shade systems are due onsite early August to start the foundation work for the covered courts. An exciting time for the community and school alike.

Hall/Administration architectural drawings are complete and preliminary works commence this school holidays in the gravel car park, preparing the site for an early 2020 build commencement. The build includes a Hall, administration, school reception, offices, music and drama facilities.

A Wing Classrooms one through to five will be upgraded and renovated this year and will house our year 7 and 8 students from the beginning of 2020. The architectural drawings are complete and building consent lodged with the Westland District Council. Tenders will be sought shortly.
