Lockdown photo competition

Westland High School —

Read on to find out more about our lockdown photo competition and the winners for the first weeks draw.

During the lockdown period we ran a photo competition. We asked students and staff to send in photos from their daily walks of the beautiful landscape we have in Hokitika.

Winners all received a Kai Whakapai food voucher and entries were shared on the school's Facebook page and Instagram accounts.

Week one's winner was announced in the previous newsletter.

Week two's winner was Faith Gillman. The judges liked the originality and use of light. Special mention goes to Sam Rasmussen, Lola Allen, Georgia Ritchie and Beata Koprowski for their action shots.

Week three's winner was YiLin Lyu for her beautiful sunset photo with lots of rich colour. Special mentions went to Charlee Jones for a well composed landscape photograph of the Lake and Nate Croy for his creative action shot.

Another of Charlee Jones' photo entries was used as the photo for Mr Murray's newsletter article in this months newsletter.

The task of choosing winners from the entries was exceptionally difficult given the high calibre of photos submitted. We have loved seeing the photos and the community has loved seeing them on social media, highlighting just how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful town.

That is the last of our photo competitions....for now. Thank you to all students and staff who participated. It was great seeing the beauty of our region through other eyes.
