Read on for updates on the last few weeks of sporting events at Westland High school.

WHS Cross Country - 10th May

We had our school's annual cross-country event, which took place on the 10th of May. The atmosphere was absolutely electric, with everyone participating and thoroughly enjoying themselves. The weather was a delightful surprise, providing the perfect conditions for outdoor activity.

Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who helped make this event successful. We greatly appreciate all of your hard work.

WCSS Badminton - 11th May

Our school's badminton teams recently participated in the West Coast Secondary Schools Badminton tournament held in Greymouth.

Two girls' teams and two boys' teams represented our school, and it was inspiring to see so many young players showcasing their skills and working together as a team. The event was filled with lots of badminton, laughter, and sportsmanship, and it was evident that everyone had a great time. We are proud to announce that one of our boys' teams was the runner-up in their division, while the girls' team secured third place in their division. A big thank you to Maddy and Graham Berry for managing the tournament, Lynne Berry Photos for capturing memorable moments of the day, and our coach Lara Kelly for training our team.

WCSS & WCPS Cross Country- 23rd May

Our school had a fantastic day participating in the West Coast region primary school and secondary school cross country. We had 11 junior students and 13 senior students representing our school, and it was inspiring to see them giving their best effort. The event was well-organized, and we would like to extend our gratitude to Mandy Dodds and Maddy Crawford for making it happen. It was a great day of sportsmanship, and we are proud of our students for representing our school with such enthusiasm.

Roller Skating activity during lunchtime

Attention all students! Don't forget to bring your skates every Wednesday lunch break for a fun roller skating session. The Westland High School Roller Skate Club is held during this time and is coached by Aroha Hawkins. It's a great opportunity to have some fun and get some exercise in between classes.
