Year 9 Whakawhanungatanga Day

Westland High School —

Whakawhanaungatanga is the process of building relations and connections with others.

Earlier in the term the Year 9's had their Whakawhanaungatanga wananga at Wadeston Island. This was a course designed to build connections and strengthen relationships between the year 9's for the coming year.

Whakawhanaungatanga is the process of connecting with others and building relationships. The wananga/course was supported and run by the senior student leaders, Mr Talbot (Outdoor Ed teacher in charge and Middle school Academic Pastoral Leader) and other staff.

They covered a range of activities centered around the school values Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, Rangatiratanga and Kaitiakitanga. The day helped to foster a sense of connection and build a great team for the year ahead.

There was a lot of laughing and fun involved. Thank you to Mr Talbot, our student leaders and supporting staff who came to help.

We hope the day has helped to set the students up for a successful year working and supporting each other as a team.
