Student success with Rubgy League

Westland High School —

One of our students, Hamish Miller, has been achieving great things within Rugby League recently.

Last weekend Hamish Miller represented the West Coast for Rugby League in the Pasifica Rugby League Tournament held in Christchurch.  Hamish was the only one selected for his grade (Under 13's) from Hokitika.  Teams from Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and New Zealand also competed within the tournament.

During term three Hamish also travelled to Dunedin to represent the West Coast for rugby league. To get there he had to train two to three times a week in Greymouth, on top of his usual club practices along with 5 others from the Hokitika region.

At this years end of year Hokitika Taipo's Rugby League prize Gigiving, Hamish  was awarded Most Dedicated Player for 2019 and also received the Most Outstanding Player.

We are extremely proud of the commitment and dedication that Hamish has shown to his chosen sport. We wish him all the best for next years season and look forward to seeing him build on this years successes.

If you know of a student (current, or past) who has had a recent success or achieved something within their chosen interest, please let us know, we would like to celebrate them.
