School Life

This Week

Thanks to everyone who came to our Performing Arts Showcase last Friday. We were overwhelmed with how many of you came along to tautoko the tamariki and the kaupapa (next time we'll do two shows). You really helped to make it a special occasion. We hope you experienced the same joy the tamariki did putting together and performing their items for you. We were so proud of how they notched it up another level for you.

A big thank you to all our staff for bringing all the learning together while never dropping the ball on the rest of the curriculum!

This has been another fun week celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. Our tamariki have been hard at work learning new kupu and rerenga.

We end this week with a bang with Crazy Hair Day to support Blood Cancer. A number of our past and present students and staff have had various forms of this cancer, so it's a foundation close to us.

If you have a spare few minutes, it would be great if you could complete the short survey about our Health Curriculum.

And finally, a note on attendance... Your children are great at sharing things with us! They love to talk about upcoming holidays and where they are jetting off to, or the adventures they've got lined up. Whether absences are recorded as illness or holidays makes no difference, so if you're child is going to be away for a holiday, it's fine to tell us and record it as that.

Thank you for another amazing term. We look forward to seeing you back for Term 4. We hope you have a safe and restful term break.

Goal Wheels Reminder

Don't forget to check your child's goal wheels and Hero comments. If your child is making expected progress, they should be 75% of the way through their current year's wheel. Expectations have shifted with the new curriculum but we are working to achieve alignment with these new expectations - children are catching up rapidly!

Many of our Senior children have completed the Year 6 wheels in Reading. Unfortunately, the Year 7-10 English curriculum is still not complete. We are, however, continuing to work with them using texts at their accelerated reading level.

Partial Grounds Closure

Just a reminder the top half of the school will be closed for works during the holidays (see last week's newsletter for details). The field and Senior Playground will still be open and can be accessed via the bottom gate by the hall.

Board Election Results

Congratulations to Rochelle Roiri, Paul Scoringe and Zoe Ikin, who were elected to our Board!

A massive thank you to the three of you, as well as Monika McLean and Reuben Davis, for putting your hands up to represent our community and support our school.

We have an amazing, talented community who are always willing to go above and beyond, and this is just another example of this.

Thank you also to Nadine Hohepa and Antony van Leuuwen who have completed their terms. We are so grateful for all the energy, time and effort you put into the mahi. Your support, curiosity, and humour have been invaluable to myself and the wider board. Thank you for your service.

Pasadena Enrolments for 2026

Is your child ready for Intermediate? We are excited to welcome all prospective students for 2026! For families who live in zone and plan to start at Pasadena Intermediate in 2026, we strongly encourage you to enrol as soon as possible. Enrolling your child early helps ensure they have the best possible start to their Intermediate school journey.

By enrolling early, your child will be included in our important transition discussions with their primary school and in class placement decisions, which begin at the start of Term 4. This process helps us get to know your child and their needs before they even arrive.

Our enrolment form can be found here.

If you have any questions, please contact the office at office@pasadena.school.nz or 09 8462169.

Lost Property

We have a large collection of lost property by Reception. Please have a look through by the end of the Term before it gets donated. There are lunch bottles, hats, shoes and clothes. This is also a friendly reminder to name your child's belongings.

TOMORROW - Crazy Hair Day

Hats - Term 4

A reminder that in Term 4 all children must wear a hat during breaks. We have school hats available from the office for $20 each. Please name your hats, as you can appreciate, these go missing easily!

Freaky Friday - Save the Date

Our most anticipated and spookiest event of the year is just around the corner. Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of next term, but in the meantime save the date - 4.30pm-6.30pm, Friday 31st October.

Sport Results

Basketball: Congratulations to the Gorillaz Year 6 basketball team for Term 3. They were really boosted by their teachers coming and watch them on during the season. Three of the players have been in the team for 2.5yrs and shown great resilience through some tough games. The team have all developed so much and attend a regular coaching session together. They show a great team spirit amongst players with Noah demonstrating great leadership this week doing the half time team talk.

Flippaball: Congratulations to the Westmere Marlins Flippa ball team who won silver in their grade over the weekend.
