Welcome to Term 3

Teresa Burn —

It's going to be another busy term at Westmere.

Monday was a beautiful day to start Term 3. At our termly pōwhiri we welcomed three new members of staff and nine children who will be starting school this term.

This term we have three Inner City School events for our senior students; rugby (rippa and union), soccer, and the speech competitions.  Our APPA choir are training hard for their concert in Term 4. Children aspiring to be a part of the ski team are training hard and children participating in netball are continuing to enjoy the last of the season.

Children are currently working through the "Keeping Ourselves Safe" unit of work. There is more information on this in a separate article.  Our studio updates newsletter will let you know about the science units that follow this.

We still have some families away on holiday this week.  Please remember that if you are away on holiday, you do need to request leave from the principal. Just send an email please. This generates the necessary paperwork for roll auditors and reminds families that the leave is classified by Ministry of Education as unjustified leave.

I hope that you enjoyed the holidays with your families.  Everyone looks very refreshed and ready to take on the second half of the year.

Ngā mihi nui
