Studio Two —

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school everyone and a special welcome to a new student in our studio, Wiki.

This week both the teachers and children have been getting used to some changes to our literacy and mathematics programmes. This term we are encouraging our Year Two students to continue taking on learning challenges, embracing opportunities to take on a leadership role as well as exploring different roles during group activities. Our Year One learners are being encouraged to continue taking more responsibility for their learning by organising their equipment, thinking about what helps them to learn, and seeking help from our older children.

We would love some more parents to help out with our Parent Reading Programme. This programme has helped some of our readers with their progress and confidence in reading. A big thank you to the parents who have been supporting us over the past two terms.

We are very lucky to have Sport Auckland running another programme for us this term. From weeks 2 to 6 the children will be participating in a Dance programme on Mondays.

Our trip to the Te Uru Gallery is fast approaching. Thanks for all the offers of help, unfortunately we have only been able to take 3 parents from each home group on this trip. Please send your child’s permission slip to school if you haven’t done so already. We have been looking at Van Gogh’s Starry Starry Night and the children are keen to share this clip with you.

Studio 2 is very fortunate to have the maths expertise of Frank Gasson, a maths specialist at our school, supporting the teachers and children over the next 4 weeks.

If your child would like to wear slippers in our studio during this winter term they are most welcome to.

As always please feel free to touch base with any of us,

Kind regards,

Nadine, Sue, Kathy, Vanessa
