School Life

Freaky Friday - Save the Date
Don't forget to add Freaky Friday to your calendars;

  • Friday 27th October (end of week 3)
  • Friday 20th October - costume swap (end of week 2)

You can come and swap a costume to help make the event as sustainable as possible. Freaky Friday was originally organised as a safe and whānau-friendly alternative to Trick or Treating.

All of the "old favourites" that children love will be there, along with some new attractions.

New Teacher in Studio 1
Next week on Thursday we will welcome Chantelle Skelton to LS1. Chantelle is an experienced teacher who will be working alongside Linda and Kirsty as our numbers have grown.

You may know from the media that recruitment of teachers is very challenging and this particularly applies to the inner city. Chantelle was very sought after. The fact that our school is so well-resourced, we have wonderful learning spaces and that teachers work collaboratively makes our school a really attractive to prospective teachers.

Student Placement in 2024
I have received a few emails about student placements for next year. Next term we will open a studio placements email address and you will have the opportunity to give us feedback and information that you would like us to consider for next year.

SchooI Board Parent Mid-Term Election 2023
Nomination round
Our school will be undertaking a mid-term parent election for 2 School Board vacancies. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday22nd September 2023.

We have employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination form and full instruction on how to place your nomination into our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you if we have your email address in our database or you will receive it by post if we don’t have your email in our database.

Nomination papers will also be available at the school office. The school will send those onto CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.

Nominations close on Wednesday 11 th October at 12 noon. Election day is Wednesday 15th November.

We look forward to your participation in this process.

Working Bee
Thank you to those people who have signed up for the working bee already. Knowing how many people are coming will help us to be organised and make the most of the time.

The maintenance of our grounds has been a spiralling cost over the last few years. This is a chance for us to save thousands of dollars that can be used to support your child's education and keep our donation costs down.

  • Saturday 14th October
  • 9 am - 1 pm (or any time between that you can help in that timeframe)

We always appreciate your support. Please sign up - every hour counts.

School Grounds in the Holidays
During the school holidays contractors will be on site making repairs to the roof of studios 1 and 2. Deliveries will be made through the Garnet Road entrance and areas of the school will be inaccessible for a few days.

If you are one of the families who use our grounds, sorry for the inconvenience. Please come and use other areas of the school. We love you being here.

Calling all Gardeners! This Saturday!

11 am-12 pm (flexible timing, can come/go whenever suits).

If you are interested in reviving the planters in the junior area please let Hilary (Edith and Feddie's mum) know via this Google Form.

Compost and plants will be provided.

Together we can make these planters full of life and colour again!

Waka Waewae - News from Chloe
It was amazing to see the additional children who showed up on Monday to "give it a go!" on our walking school buses - our Waka Waewae. We loved all the enthusiasm shown by the tamariki! They were rewarded with delicious treats and hot chocolates at school and all have been entered into a prize draw to be drawn at the next assembly. The Livingstone Waka had Constable Bank join them on their walk to school and the Garnet Rd Waka had Teresa and Debbie walk on theirs! Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped out with this event.

If your child is interested in joining the Waka Waewae in Term 4 or you would like to start a new Waka from the Grey Lynn side of school there is a survey here to sign up.
