School Life

This Week

The kids had a blast at tonight's disco! The excitement built up all through the week, and the children were almost bursting when they saw the hall being decorated today. They danced away the winter chills and had a blast with their friends.

A massive thank you to Sarah-Jane, Adele and your amazing team of volunteers for making such a fun night happen for our tamariki.

The book character parade, disco and pyjama day (coming up next week) have helped to keep a bit of fun happening in the dying weeks of the term.

Next week is the last week of term. The children (and their teachers) are doing an awesome job of staying engaged in learning and working hard. Thanks to all the parents who have let us know in advance of any absences. This helps us to plan our final assessments and workshops accordingly.

Thanks to all those whānau who have donated pyjamas for Jammies for June. Almost all of the studios have earned a pyjama day for next Thursday and one is one pair away from pyjamas, a movie and popcorn!

Reminder: Health and Safety
We lock our gates from 9-2:45pm each day. We know this can cause some inconvenience for whānau, so have not made this decision lightly. At the moment, this is an important health and safety decision to keep our tamariki safe. We will re-visit this decision at the start of Term 3.

Entry into the school between 9am and 2:45pm should be through our school office. Thanks for your support!

Playball for Term 3

Playball is so excited to be back at Westmere School for Term 3, 2026!

Playball is a sport and movement program for 2-9 year olds.

The main objective of Playball is not to create superstars, but rather to provide children with the opportunity to develop many necessary physical, social, educational and personal skills. From a child's perspective the most important element of our program is FUN! For many children, their Playball lesson is the highlight of their week!

We will run Playball at Westmere School every Tuesday after-school, 3pm-4pm.

Playball fees for Term 3 are $130 for a 10-week term (inc GST).

Little Mermaid show

Little Mermaid show on at the Aotea Centre next weekend - 26 to 28 June.

Four of our Y5s are in the show - Alexa, Sophie, Annabelle and Mia.

It'll be lots of fun, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to come and enjoy it.

Western Springs College Open Week

2026 WSC Open Week Tour dates in week 1 of Term 3, as well as new Out of Zone Enrolments for 2027 (Y9 + Y10 only). These tours will take place with Principal (Ivan Davis) between 9am-10:30am. Bookings can be made via this link HERE and further information is available on website.

Westmere School is a collection point for donated PJs to make sure every child who goes through Middlemore Hospital's doors goes home in a warm pair of pyjamas.

Please contribute to this effort through to the end of June and spread the word to friends and whānau. You can find donation boxes in the office at the Larchwood Avenue entry doors.

There are alternative ways you can contribute.
