School Life
You may have heard in the media that primary teachers rejected the latest offer from the government. I know that with different teachers in different sectors it can be confusing, so here is a summary of things as they stand;
- Kindergarten teachers have settled.
- Secondary teachers have not settled. The Post Primary Teachers Association (PPTA) negotiates separately to primary teachers (NZEI). Strike action and work to rule are ongoing. Their action is not related to primary teachers and when they are on strike it does not impact Westmere School.
- Primary teachers who are a part of NZEI have been asked to feed back to the union on what course of action they would like to take next - including whether to strike. Before strike action, members will need to be balloted and a process followed including written notice to boards.
- Primary principals who are part of NZEI are still taking action - including non-engagement with Ministry projects. Principals have opted not to strike.

Wear Something Pink Day
Don't forget that tomorrow is "Wear Something Pink Day" at Westmere.
Students are invited to wear something pink. At assembly, students will be presenting on the theme of being an upstander.

Health Survey
The Westmere Board works on a review cycle and is currently seeking feedback on our health curriculum. This includes physical education, but also the wider mental health and well-being of students and ways to keep themselves safe. This health survey just takes a couple of minutes to complete. Thank you for your input.

your school from the 22nd of May-9th of June.
