Dogs at the gate
This week one of our children was bitten by a dog tied up at the school gate on Larchwood Ave.
We understand what a good opportunity it is to walk the dog when you bring the children up to school, however our children will often flock around the dogs tied up and they can become agitated as was the case in this instance.
We will be revisiting with the children how to stay safe around dogs but please talk about this at home with your children. We advise not to touch a dog you don't know unless you first ask permission of the owner while they are there in control of the dog.
To keep all our children safe and reduce the stress for the dogs, please do not leave your dogs unattended tied up at the school gates. If you wish to come into school with your child please leave the dog at home. Perhaps choose one dog-free day when you you can come into the class and touch base with what your child is doing at school. On the other days, consider walking the children and dog to school and 'kiss and drop' the children at the gate.
We really appreciate your support in keeping everyone safe.
