Important Camp Reminders 🏕

Year 5/6 Teachers —

The camp countdown is on! Here are some important final reminders for Year 5–6 Camp.

Camp Payment

Any outstanding camp payments were due last Friday (21st October). Please see Nicki, Carolyn or Deborah in the office if you wish to discuss this payment. Our silent fund is still open. If you wish to anonymously contribute to this to support others, it would be appreciated.

Monday Morning

Please be at school by 8:30am on Monday 31st October.

Boxes will be lined up outside Studio 6 to collect the following:

  • Crackers, cheese & dips: LS6 Di & LS7 Terry.
  • Baking: LS6 Jason, LS6 Nicki, LS7 Marcela, LS7 Sophie, Wai Tahi & Wai Rua.
  • Please no nuts in either the baking or the dips. Please label if baking is gluten, egg or dairy free.
  • Two named tea towels per child
  • We would really appreciate spare named warm clothes, sunhats, sleeping bags, or drink bottles to have as a central supply
  • Medication clearly labelled with your child’s name and instructions for administering. Please hand these into the Health Station outside Studio 6.

Equipment

  • An equipment list is attached. The list for the children also applies to adults coming to camp. There are no spare plates, cutlery, etc at camp.
  • Plastic plates and bowls please
  • It is very important for your child to have plenty of warm clothes. Layers of polyprop or wool are good. Waterproof raincoats are essential as the activities will continue in wet weather.
  • Beach shoes are great for the confidence course and mud slide as children will get wet and muddy
  • More than one pair of sports shoes is very useful as it is really nice to have dry shoes at the end of a day’s activities
  • The tramp will be muddy and steep. We recommend sturdy shoes. Please also make sure that tramping shoes are clean to prevent Kauri dieback.
  • Please name everything clearly
  • Please no lollies or electronics at camp. We will have school cameras with us.

Parent Helpers

  • A reminder that day helpers need to be at camp by 8am for a briefing outside the main dining room.
  • Car-Pooling for Parent Helpers - If you have a spare seat in your car, or require a lift to camp, can you please let the school office know and they will coordinate this.
  • Coffee drinkers - Contributions of plungers and coffee appreciated.
  • If you were unable to make the Parent Helpers' Meeting on Tuesday evening, please ensure you pick up your information pack from your child's studio and catch-up with a parent who attended this meeting.

Thursday

  • We should arrive back at school on Thursday around 3pm. Friday is officially a school day but we understand that your children will probably be very tired by the end of camp. It is understandable if  they stay home and catch up on rest on the Friday following camp. We will be spending the Friday at school tidying up gear and running a quieter programme for children.
